In winter I walk to desolate places. I watch carrier ships load freight. Iron and steel darting up toward murky skies. There is quiet in the pounding of metal. Beside the river, the cranes make no sound as they pile salt from the bellies of ships. They create mountains. I grew up on a small island, and sometimes wonder if I grew up to become a small island.

Prints of my work and self-published books are available here.
